Installation and Setup of Kitchen Countertops

Do Countertops Scratch?

For the installation and setup of wooden kitchen countertops, production is first made according to the special measurements and projects of the users. Based on special requests, hob and sink areas are cut with CNC, and protective oil applications are made in the selected colors. Skirtings and all elements necessary for installation are also delivered to the address. Furthermore, countertops are always sent ready for installation, and anyone who does similar work can install them. When the countertops are removed from their packaging, they should be installed without delay; for corner or U-shaped countertops, it is recommended to get service from a furniture maker. In the kitchen design phase, the hob or sink areas should be at least twenty centimeters away from each other and from the edges, and the countertops must be installed with a 3-4 mm gap between them and the wall. Special applications are also made under the countertops to protect against water and moisture.

This is one of the most frequently asked questions, and countertops are not immediately affected by possible impacts or accidents and do not scratch; however, they will scratch if one tries to scratch them. If wooden kitchen countertop products do get scratched, repair is quite easy, and scratches are eliminated in a short time with the box sandpaper products sent as a gift from where you purchased the countertops. After sanding, by re-oiling with a special oil, they will return to their original shine and freshness. At the same time, wood is a material that never dies, and with the enzymes it contains, it prevents bacteria from growing in scratches. In case of scratches and possible problems, microbe accumulation absolutely does not occur. A cutting board can also be made from the wood removed from the sink area during countertop installation.

Do Hot Pots or Coffee Pots Damage Countertops?

The oil used during production to protect the countertops completely protects the wood up to approximately 100 degrees Celsius. However, temperatures of 300 degrees Celsius damage wooden kitchen countertop products after five minutes. However, like scratches, burns on the countertops can also be repaired. Thanks to their silky, non-porous surfaces and seamless joints, possible damage and problems are easily cleaned. Furthermore, cleaning is done with detergent and a soft cloth. Food and drinks spilled on the countertops should be cleaned immediately without delay, as prolonged waiting can cause stains to dry and become difficult to remove. Ring marks from heat can occur on the countertops; care should be taken not to place hot pots and pans directly on the countertop.

How Should Kitchen Countertops Be Cleaned?

For cleaning wooden kitchen countertops and cabinet doors, a soft cloth with a mild detergent or a simple microfiber cloth should always be used. To remove stubborn dirt and stains, a soft brush or sponge should be used with liquid detergent or glass cleaner products. To prevent stains from spreading and to preserve the surface's shine, all residue is removed quickly with a dry cloth after applying detergent. Since lacquered surfaces are not as durable as flat surfaces, cleaning should always be done more carefully and meticulously. Dried and old stains that cannot be removed with water, soap, and glass cleaners can be removed by using vinegar instead of chemical products, without scrubbing.
