Food Colorings

Food Colorings

Food colorings are artificial colorants used in all foods, whether sweet or savory. They are most commonly used in cakes, cookies, creams, and cocktail drinks. It is possible to find food coloring in almost every primary color, and intermediate colors can be obtained by mixing primary colors. Food colorings are classified into 3 groups: liquid, GEL, and paste. Each has its own area of use and advantages. Liquid food colorings are products that look like colored water in small bottles and are mostly used to obtain pastel colors. Food coloring can be added to any food until the desired color is achieved. Although the color pigment is low, the desired hue can be achieved with excessive use. GEL food colorings are produced on a corn syrup base and are more effective for obtaining vibrant colors. They have more color options than liquid and the desired color can be achieved with just a few drops.

Natural Food Colorings

Natural food colorings, which fall into the food coloring category, do not contain corn or glycerin like others and are made entirely from plant extracts. Saffron flowers and turmeric are the most ideal plants for achieving yellow color. Individuals with allergies to synthetic dyes can easily use natural food colorings.
